The NSBA's Letter For Federal Assistance (& my response)

Some comments/notes made as I read through and research the NSBA letter.   Re: Federal Assistance to Stop Threats and Acts of Violence Against Public Schoolchildren, Public School Board Members, and Other Public School District Officials and Educators  Dear Mr. President:  America’s public schools and its education leaders are under an immediate threat. The National School Boards Association (NSBA) respectfully asks for federal law enforcement and other assistance to deal with the growing number of threats of violence and acts of intimidation occurring across the nation.   There are already state criminal laws and agencies which deal with threats of violence.  Local school board members want to hear from their communities on important issues and that must be at the forefront of good school board governance and promotion of free speech. However, there also must be safeguards in place to protect public schools and dedicated education leaders as they do their jobs. NSBA believes im

Critical Race Theory in Education

I keep coming across the argument that CRT isn't being taught in schools because CRT is this narrow branch of legal studies which is only taught in higher education. This is clearly false. It is true that the field started out as a critique of our system of law but it has since expanded its influence to many other areas, one of which is education. As evidence of this, I present the following academic books and articles.  The focus of these works varies from critique of our education system, use of CRT in teacher education/training and inclusion of CRT in curriculum. This is by no means a complete list, but is only what I compiled in about two hours of research.  Books  Critical Race Theory Perspectives on the Social Studies: The Profession ... - Google Books  2003 Critical Pedagogy and Race | Wiley  2005 Critical Race Theory in Education: All God's Children Got a Song (9780415952910): Dixson, Adrienne D., Rousseau, Celia K.: Books  2006 Critical Race Theory Matters - Google Boo

Oregon Mugshot Bill & Identifying Radical Leftist

There's a new bill in Oregon which would prohibit police from releasing booking photos except for in specific circumstances and would require publish-for-pay publications to remove mugshots upon request. Juan Chavez of the Oregon Justice Resource Center said mugshots “results in trial by press release, not a judge or jury. And make no mistake, in this day and age, this is the digital version of a perp walk.” I haven't put too much thought into this, though my gut reaction is that a little public shamming is probably a good way to dissuade radicals from being radicals. But the real point I'd like to make is that the mugshots have served as a means of countering the narrative that the Portland riots and vandalism weren't done by Antifa/leftist but instead by far right radicals. I've come across this argument numerous times. Those on the left who don't want to believe the facts, simply imply that the chaos in Portland is caused by boogaloo boys, proud boys or some

Timeline of Leftist Riots & Group Criminality: Seattle (May 29, 2020 to May 28, 2020)

A work in progress. I do not plan to include as much detail to this timeline as the Portland timeline as it is simply too time consuming.  May 29, 2020 A night of rioting and clashes with police carried into the early hours of Saturday after a larger crowd splintered into smaller groups and protesters were reported smashing glass and damaging buildings across the International District and onto Capitol Hill . Just after midnight, the Amazon grocery was smashed into and there were reports of people trying to throw lit flares inside . Rioters smashed glass and vandalized the Ferrari dealership.  Various other riotous acts included a smashed bus shelter, rocks thrown at the King County Children and Family Justice Center, smashed patrol car window, convention center window broken, courthouse window broken, broken windows at various other properties, rocks and other objects thrown at officers .  A total of 7 arrest made.  Seattle ‘Defiant Walk of Resistance’ protest planned over George Floy
